WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are looking for children with a passion for performing, who love to sing, dance or act and love learning. We are not looking for the finished product, we are looking for actors who sing, singers who act, actors who dance a little, dancers who sing a little; in fact, whatever combination of skills, you have won’t matter; what matters is your passion and ability to learn.
What to prepare:
A verse and chorus of two of your favourite musical theatre songs. Try to choose two contrasting songs. There is no time limit. You needn’t prepare an acting piece as you will take part in an acting workshop.
The Audition Day
Registration will begin at 9.30am on the day of your chosen Audition
Our auditions are designed to encourage, support and explore. Some children auditioning for us are as young as 7 years old and some are 16 years and looking for a final training and audition preparation for full time college.
What ever your reason for making your application, we ensure that our audition process is fun, welcoming, informative and you leave having learned about the course, learned new skills, made new friends and learned something about the industry.
Your audition will run as follows:
Welcome
Introduction to teaching team and current students. (Parents welcome)
Performance
You will enjoy a short performance of the current students giving you an idea of the work you will do. (Parents welcome)
At this point Parents chat to teaching team and Principal answering questions you may have. After this Parents leave and return when the audition is complete.
Jazz/Movement class
This is a workshop for all; those with no experience needn’t worry because you will not be alone. Its fun and friendly and you will probably be dancing to your favourite musical theatre track.
Acting workshop
Again, this is a ‘getting to know you class’. The focus of the class will be based on something you know or even the song you are singing for your audition.
Performance of song/s.
You will perform your prepared songs to the team. This is supportive and fun and the team are looking for the very best in you. You will be much more relaxed because you will know us a little by then.
IMPORTANT TIP: Choose songs that you love and that suit your age. Choose songs that you can talk about and songs that have a story or characters you enjoy. Remember to try to tell the story when you are performing. It’s the most important part.
The process takes a total of three hours. Parents stay for the first 45 minutes and then return to collect you.
WHEN WILL I HEAR RESULTS OF MY AUDITION?
You will hear within one week of your audition. You will have two weeks to accept you place as places are very limited.
Note to applicants: The most important part of the day is not your audition but rather that we get to know YOU. Your personality and ability to learn including the way you throw yourself into challenges on the day is the single most important part of the day. Your personality is key to success – its YOU we want to find out about. We know we can do the rest.
Have fun and looking forward to meeting you!
