Study at GAMTA – International Students
At Glasgow Academy of Musical Theatre Arts (GAMTA), we proudly welcome talented international students who are passionate about pursuing professional training in musical theatre and the performing arts.
Our intensive conservatoire-style training prepares performers, creative artists, and industry-ready professionals within a supportive and inspiring learning environment. Students develop practical skills, artistic confidence, and professional discipline through high-level training in acting, singing, and dance.
For the 2026/27 academic year, a limited number of places are available for international students on our three-year BA (Hons) Musical Theatre degree programme.
Applicants holding recognised higher-level qualifications may be considered for direct entry into Year 2 or Year 3, subject to approval by our university partner. Early applications are strongly encouraged due to limited availability.

Entry Requirements
International Students
GAMTA welcomes applications from students from a wide range of educational and cultural backgrounds. We consider each applicant individually based on their potential, performance ability, commitment, and suitability for professional conservatoire-style training.
Admission to the BA (Hons) Musical Theatre programme is primarily based on audition and interview.
Applicants should normally hold qualifications equivalent to UK Level 3 study or recognised higher education qualifications from their home country.
International students may also be considered for advanced entry into Year 2 or Year 3 where previous higher-level study, or professional training is demonstrated and approved by our university partner.
All international applicants must successfully complete:

Online auditions are available for applicants unable to travel to the UK.
English Language Requirements
As all teaching and assessment at GAMTA is delivered in English, applicants whose first language is not English must show English language proficiency appropriate for degree-level study.
In line with current UK Student Visa requirements, applicants are normally expected to prove English language ability equivalent to CEFR Level B2 in reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
English language ability may be demonstrated through:

IELTS Academic or IELTS for UKVI (Minimum score of 5.5 in each of the components, with an overall score of 6.0)

Pearson PTE Academic

A recognised qualification taught in English

Earlier study completed in a UKVI-recognised majority English-speaking country

Other qualifications accepted under current UKVI guidance
Applicants who have completed a degree-level qualification taught in English outside the UK may be required to obtain Vectis confirmation where applicable under UKVI regulations.
Where allowed under UKVI regulations, English language ability may also be assessed during the admissions, audition, and interview process by the sponsoring institution.
Some applicants may be exempt from providing a Secure English Language Test depending on nationality, earlier qualifications, or immigration status.
Applicants are recommended to check the latest UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) guidance before applying, as immigration requirements may change.
Audition Requirements
Applicants will normally be asked to prepare:

Two contrasting musical theatre songs
-
A short monologue
-
A movement or dance assessment where applicable
Detailed audition guidance will be provided after application.
Visa and Immigration Information
International students needing a Student Visa must meet all UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requirements at the time of application and enrolment.
